Directions

This is a quick and easy recipe, yet it makes for a wonderful bread!

!!!Important!!! The butter you use MUST be soft, not melted. Do not use a microwave to soften your butter. Put the sticks of butter in a bowl and let them sit out for a few hours until they're soft all the way through!!!

Par baked bread can usually be found at your local grocery store. It is bread that has not been cooked all the way through, but most of the way. French bread loaves work best for this.

Preheat oven to 375 f.

Add your garlic salt to the SOFTENED butter and stir it together very well. You don't want a concentrated chunk of garlic salt, yech...

Take your par baked french bread loaf and cut it evenly in half the long way. Try to leave at least 1/8 cup butter to use later.

Spread the garlic butter evenly over both halves of the bread. Place each half, garlic butter up, on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven for 7 - 9 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove bread.

Switch your oven to broil mode.

Spread remaining butter lightly over both halves. Replace in oven directly under broiler and leave there for 2 - 4 minutes or until butter is boiling and there is a light brown speckling of the butter. WATCH THIS STEP CAREFULLY! You can easilly burn your bread at this point... do not let it burn.

Remove bread and let sit for a few minutes. Slice it up into pieces and serve.
